Groundbreaking medical device gets a responsive website

Nyxoah, a medical start-up based in Belgium have produced a device for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). For those of you who don't know, Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a disease where you swallow your tongue in your sleep, and wakes you up and snore really loudly but can also be lethal and choke you. Nasty stuff !!

Our brief was to steer away from the  'average' medical website which generally feels wordy, is quite dry and often comes with poor design. In this case we were asked to take some cues from Apple (of course) and keep things clean, simple with a strong focus on the end-user.

While the subject and tone of the copy will remain a little dry (it's a medical device after all), we made a special effort to use photography, subtle interactive touches as well as a few jazzy CSS animations. There's a magnifier to get extra close to some components of their product for example; animated charts, scaling profile pictures for the founders and event based scrolling on the homepage. A lot more like the things you'd see on a startup and agency website. To which we said fair play, our designs weren't torn apart and rejected.
